In the very specific ambient of the town of Bitola, in mutual harmony of the eastern and western influences, there are only a small number of folk architecture buildings, which exists as individual structures in this urban content. In the Bitola region there are many villages with authentically preserved rural building complexes as well as individual buildings. The ethnological criteria and the valorization of the folk architecture as a part of the material culture of our people, treats these buildings as testimony to the way of life in the towns and in the villages in past times. As a result, on the list of registered buildings of folk architecture of the towns and of the villages of this region, we will find some relatively humble constructions, some with no accented value apart from their ambient value, which nonetheless have contributed to the enrichment of the town scenography and cultural landscape of this region.

There are 129 buildings registered on the list of protected folk buildings of the town, and a protection regime has been prepared concerning the further treatment of all of them.

Many long-term projects have been carried out as tasks of this section, such as: "Identification of the rural buildings in the villages of Suvodol and Biljanik endangered by the surface mining of REK - Bitola", "Investigation and identification of the traditional rural architecture in the Pelister foothills region” and “Investigation and identification of the traditional rural architecture in the Mariovo region".

The following exhibitions were promoted as a result of the activities of this section: "In search of traces of the rural constructions in Prespa", "The traces of the rural constructions in Mariovo region".

During the last few years, many buildings with traditional rural architecture have been registered, in 35 villages on the foothills of Pelister, starting with the village of Darozani and ending with the village of Dupeni, a village on the eastern slopes of Pelister.

Within the frame of the work of this section, we would like to emphasize the activities of an international character, which aim at promoting the rural cult, the heritage of this country abroad, in the form of participation in seminars, symposiums and popular exhibitions.
